1969年倫敦，兩個處於“休眠期”（解僱的和沒有人僱傭的）演員Withnail和Marwood，寄生在一個潮溼、寒冷的環境中，那兒有洗盤子的工人、狂熱的藥販子和發瘋了的愛爾蘭人。
